groSolar Appearing on This Old House
groSolar will be featured on two episodes of the Emmy Award-winning PBS television show This Old House. groSolar will be seen in Episode #11, which aired in December 2008 and Episode #16, which will air in January 2009. The company, among the nation’s premier solar energy firms, was chosen as the solar installer for the This Old House project in Weston, Massachusetts. groSolar’s This Old House debut will air during the show’s new season which premieres nationally on PBS October 2 (check for local listings).
“The This Old House Weston project is fantastic for groSolar,” said groSolar CEO Jeff Wolfe. “We are thankful to the show’s staff for promoting the importance of solar energy.”
Despite the Weston home’s location on a main thoroughfare, homeowners Pete and Amy Favat love their property, much of it on wetlands, with its active wildlife and bubbling brook. In recent years, however, the Favats – along with their children, 15-year-old Cian and 12-year-old Juliette – have found themselves outgrowing their modest 1970’s-era home. After a year of trying to donate the existing house to charity, there were no takers, so the next best solution for them was to deconstruct their old house to make way for a new timberframe home with many “green” amenities.
groSolar will be supplying the Favat’s home with all of the equipment for the standard installation of a utility tied, non-battery, 3420 watt photovoltaic system. This system includes 18 Evergreen ES-190 photovoltaic modules, a grid tied inverter, racking, installation and balance of system components. groSolar will also prepare the roof for installation and will install PV modules and racking.
Thisoldhouse.com will feature progress of the Weston project 24/7 through four Webcams powered by EarthCam. Visitors to www.thisoldhouse.com also will be able to access other special features, such as a “before” photo gallery, project overview, and time-lapse archive where an in-depth look at the project’s progress may be tracked once the transformation has concluded.
