The once elusive, mysterious and even mythical Pennslyvania grant program is now a reality.  We know that some of you have been waiting years for this – and at times even we wondered if it would actually manifest.  But now I’m happy to report that it is here and well worth the wait.  The $100 million dollar program is currently offering rebates up to $2.25 per watt – even more for low income applicants.  We can confidently say that there has never been a better time to go solar in PA – and we’re here to help.  To learn more about the PA Sunshine grant program, visit their website or contact our sales team at 866.GRO.SOLAR or by .

We celebrated the opening of our newest office and warehouse space in Massachusetts on Monday. The new location in North Billerica, MA expands groSolar’s presence in Massachusetts – we have another warehouse and office in Raynham, MA. Congresswoman Niki Tsongas and groSolar CEO, Jeff Wolfe both spoke about the benefits of green energy in Massachusetts and then cut our green ribbon. We were thrilled to see so many people in attendance!

Worcest State CollegeUnder the supervision of groSolar Installation Crew Leader Jason Quinlan, groSolar’s Raynham installation team and the North Billerica team completed the roof work for a 105.3kW solar array at Worcester State College. This 540 panel installation is located on the roof of the Learning Resource Center. The installation will be the largest on any college campus in Massachusetts and the largest solar arry in Worcester. The photovoltaic array will generate over 140,000 kilowatt hours of electricity annually, which is enough energy to supply electricity to 20 homes of about 2,800 square feet each.

Marketing, ERP, and the Speed of Solar

There is a lot happening in the solar world, and the world of groSolar. New marketing initiatives (watch not only for new graphics, but amazing new price offers in some areas), residential financing (MA and CA), and new technology that makes systems easier to install (read: less expensive), are but three of the areas we are working in. Doing a complete overhaul of our business process and interface to our ERP (NetSuite), while keeping everything running at break-neck speed, is simply business as usual for us.

To continue growing in this economy means that we must not only control costs, but also understand them. The upgrades to the ERP allow us greater visibility, faster, with less effort. We’ve done this before, and as our business continues to grow, we’ll do it again. It is this continued investment in process and systems that continues to set groSolar apart (along with our amazingly broad and deep management team!)

All this, taken together, is what creates what we call “The Speed of Solar”. Hang on tight, we’re not slowing down.

Jaws are dropping.

One person hollered, ‘I can FINALLY afford to go solar, woo hoo!’

Going solar in Massachusetts has been dramatically changed, and I wish I had peoples’ reactions on tape. With our new SunRun program, it’s as little as $1,000 to get a solar electric system on your home—then, you just pay for what the system produces! We can usually set the price for this electricity at or below what you are currently paying per kWh and lock it in for 18 years. SunRun owns the system for you. They maintain and monitor it daily. Since utility rates continually increase, our customers will save significantly and have clean electrons powering their home!

I spoke with a couple planning on retiring soon. They are going to have a fixed income, and this program will actually be a way for them to keep their energy costs stabilized, making it much easier for financial planning. An already retired couple pointed out that the solar electric system will be their legacy—a gift to future generations.

With the engineering expertise of groSolar and the game changing financial services of SunRun, solar power is within reach for nearly every home owner in Massachusetts– solar power to the people!

The Ribbon is Cut!The new operations center and warehouse in the Mid-Atlantic Region is now open!  The new space is located in Jessup, MD and will increase our direct installation services locally and introduce distribution capacity to our the Mid-Atlantic offices.  We hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate on April 17th, and were joined by many local officials.  In the picture the ribbon is cut by (left to right), Director of the Maryland Energy Administration Malcolm Woolf, groSolar VP of Policy & Market Development Richard Deutschmann, and Howard County Executive Ken Ulman.

Photovoltaic and Solar Hot Water Training gets High Marks

  Posted By:  admin

Recently groSolar launched two new training classes for dealer and groDirect solar energy installers. Based upon training satisfaction survey results, 80% of participants in Photovoltaic (PV) class and 93% of the Solar Hot Water (SHW) participants rated their confidence level after training as very good to excellent. This compared to a confidence level ratings of 60% and 63% respectively before training. These results clearly demonstrates the combination of providing comprehensive theory of operation with real world hands-on training was well received.
