groSolar Names New VP of Residential Sales

Seasoned solar veteran, Bob Lewis is named VP of residential sales for groSolar

White River Junction, VT – Solar energy leader groSolar announced today the promotion of Bob Lewis to the position of vice president of residential sales. Over the past four years, Lewis led the company’s exponential Northeast consumer sales growth as manager of residential sales.

Lewis’s promotion comes after groSolar’s acquisition of the residential solar division of Borrego Solar Systems of El Cajon, Calif. Lewis will play a major role in growing the company’s California residential business.

“We are committed to creating and advancing the careers of our dedicated team,’’ said groSolar CEO Jeff Wolfe. “We don’t simply hire employees; we enlist business owners. In order for the solar industry to meet its goals – to mitigate global warming, realize energy independence and reduce our addiction to foreign fuel sources – workforce development must be a key focus of our organization."

With the Borrego acquisition, groSolar became the fifth largest residential solar installer in the U.S. With rising energy costs and the recent federal stimulus package, the company expects to see faster growth in 2009.

In his new position, Lewis will be responsible for the territories of groSolar's Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and California direct sales.

“Bob’s promotion is an important strategic decision for groSolar,” said Paul Coughlin, senior vice president of sales & marketing. “His consistently high level of performance, knowledge of the sales process and understanding of customer needs have been a vital component to groSolar’s growth in the residential solar space. He is truly a pioneer in solar energy sales.”

groSolar's direct-to-consumer reach now includes 12 territories along the east coast and California. Lewis will be focused on growing these markets further and delivering solar energy solutions to homeowners and small businesses.

Lewis, a Woodstock, Vermont native, found his professional calling at groSolar.

“A sustainable future begins with sustainable energy,” Lewis said. “People are concerned about the world they are leaving their children. groSolar has afforded me the opportunity to develop a way to communicate both the simplicity and the necessity of renewable solar power in terms we can all understand.” He added, “groSolar has allowed me to use my skills to recruit a solid team, and train our people for success. I am extremely excited about my new position, and I’m honored to be part of the groSolar team.”
