Our Commitment to Corporate Sustainability:

groSolar is committed to operating as sustainably as possible in our internal operations and our outward missions. Examples of our ongoing work include:

  • From 1998 through 2009 we have sold/installed over 30 megawatts of solar power capacity, which based on the national average equates to approximately 27,868.5 tons CO2/year in annual C02 emissions reduction across the US.
  • Office renovations and expansions include state of the art efficiency measures including improved windows, added insulation, multi-level light switching, programmable thermostats, solar tubes, eco-friendly carpeting to name a few.
  • In most offices, kitchens are stocked with non-disposable flatware, cups and plates, compost buckets are maintained, clothe hand towels are stocked and cleaned by employees, and glass milk bottles are used.
  • Recycled content paper is used and brown paper towels in the bathroom. All offices have a full recycle program for paper, cardboard, bottles, plastics.
  • The Green Team, comprised of one groSolar employee from each office, creates and incents other individual and collective activities such as carpooling, bicycle riding, home efficiency projects, office efficiency projects.
  • groSolar offers all employees renewable energy systems at 10% above cost.
  • groSolar encourages and incentives employees to volunteer time, such as in Vermont’s Green Up Day, where employees from the local office spent the morning picking up trash.
  • groSolar has donated equipment of the years to a variety of non-profit organizations, and recently culminated a grant project which allowed (15) Habitat for Humanity homes in New York to receive solar electric systems.
