Case Study: Winters Waste Water Treatment Facility |
System: 251 kW Single-Axis Ground Mount Tracker Overview: Water treatment powered by solar: the City of Winters, CA can now attest to that. A 251 kW solar photovoltaic array is helping the city save money and the environment. groSolar worked with the City of Winters and MP2 Capital, who owns the solar array, to develop the project. MP2 Capital will sell the clean solar power back to the City of Winters through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) at a rate which will be lower than what the city is currently paying for electricity. Not only will the city be paying approximately 10% less for electricity but the annual rate increases will be significantly lower than the rate increases offered by the local utility. The solar project is fully computerized which will rotate the panels on a single-axis tracker throughout the day to get the most solar potential from the array. The system is also full monitored using a DECK monitoring system to track power being produced, weather factors and environmental benefits.
