Katlyn McCoy, 17, said in addition to learning about how conduits function and how panels are connected, she was impressed with GroSolar and other subcontracted company employees willing to teach her.
“Everyone here working on this solar site is very knowledgeable,” McCoy said. “It’s a great chance to learn something new that we don’t do on a daily basis in school.”
Working on such a talked-about project, she said, made her feel connected with the community.
“It’s a good feeling to be involved with something that is helping out the entire area,” McCoy said, pushing her yellow hard hat back into place. “Now every time I drive by, I can say I was a part of it. Not a lot of people can say that.”
