City Solar Garden Awarded CPG
groSolar’s City Solar Garden project received a Certificate of Public Good from the Public Service Board of Vermont on August 25, 2014. The project is being developed, designed, and built by groSolar and will be located on Woodstock Avenue in Rutland City. Rutland is quickly proving itself to be the innovative Solar Capital of New England and is being promoted by the region’s utility, Green Mountain Power, as an Energy City of the Future.
The City Solar Garden lies on four acres within a larger park that includes walking paths, mountain bike trails, and a community garden. This 1MW project will generate clean, renewable energy to be supplied to GMP’s grid and the local community. Construction of the project will utilize locally sourced labor and Vermont-based contractors. The construction process will be managed from groSolar’s Rutland office and is scheduled to begin in early 2015.
