groSolar Announces Solar Deal with Community Owned Electric Utility in Jacksonville, Florida
Solar Developer Signs 7MW (AC) Power Purchase Agreement with JEA
(White River Junction, VT) – groSolar is making a splash in the Florida solar market with the announcement of a large-scale solar project agreement with JEA, the Jacksonville area community-owned utility. The deal is for a 25 year power purchase agreement (PPA) for the output of a 7MW (AC) solar farm. It marks the first significant deal for groSolar in the Florida market.
“It’s gratifying to be able to bring our expertise and national experience to build a project that will capture the abundant sunshine that washes over Florida every day,” said Jamie Resor, groSolar CEO. “We look forward to completing our development efforts and constructing the project for our partners at JEA.”
groSolar expects to construct the project in the first half of 2016.
The 7MW (AC) array will produce more than 14,000 MWh in its first year of operations. That’s enough electricity to power 1,600 homes. The carbon avoided is equal to taking 1,156 cars off the road or planting more than 7,000 trees.
JEA is the eighth-largest community-owned electric utility in the United States and one of the largest water and sewer utilities in the nation providing electric, water and sewer service to residents and businesses in northeast Florida.
