Camden Solar Center

This solar PV project, constructed at Camden County Municipal Utility Authority’s (CCMUA) wastewater treatment plant by groSolar above open wastewater treatment tanks, presented one of the most complicated application types to date in the solar PV industry.  The number of EPC firms vying for this project was very limited, given the challenges and sensitivity of this particular site.  groSolar was able to complete this project without interfering with normal plant operations.

The New Jersey project is owned by Integrys Energy Services, which will sell the solar generated electricity to CCMUA, the project host, in the form of a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

“We applaud CCMUA for hosting this solar powered system which reaffirms their focus on environmental stewardship, while reducing their overall cost for electricity.  In addition, partnering with groSolar on this project was a nice fit for us strategically and helps us continue to grow our customer-centric renewable energy asset business,” said Joel Jansen, Managing Director of Energy Assets for Integrys Energy Services.

The three parties were brought together by developer, Heliosage, which selected groSolar because of its expansive experience designing and building complex projects on time and within budget.

“It was a great pleasure working with groSolar on the CCMUA project.  They brought a high level of professionalism and competence from the earliest stages of the project, and creatively navigated one of the most complex and demanding engineering challenges we have encountered as a developer.  Thanks to groSolar, the CCMUA Solar Center should be a model for the industry in dealing with complex solar installations,” said Matt Hantzmon, Founder & COO, Heliosage.

The Camden Solar Center was recognized with one of nine Honorable Mentions at the 2013 PV America East Projects of Distinction Awards ceremony, which was presented by leading industry associations SEIA and SEPA.
