  • Good news! Effective immediately, Xcel Energy no longer requires Utility External Disconnect Switches (UEDS) on PV systems of 10 kW or less, as long as the system uses a UL1741 certified inverter. This does not change any of the other program requirements, including the placard indicating the presence of a PV system behind meter. (The standard placard should be used with the wording pertaining to the disconnect removed.) The UEDS will still be required for systems in the Medium and Large programs, 10kw to 2 MW.
    We are currently working on making wording changes on impacted documents, emails, websites, etc. But since this is a very important issue, we didn't want to wait to get the word out to you on the policy revision.

  • SEIA/ Solar Energy Industries Association: This is the national trade organization and the primary policy steering body for the solar industry. Jeff Wolfe, CEO of gro, is the elected Chair of the PV Division. On this site you will find the very helpful SEIA Tax Manual which will answer all your solar related tax questions.
  • DSIRE/ Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency: is a comprehensive source of information on state, local, utility, and federal incentives that promote renewable energy and energy efficiency.
  • REW/ Renewable Energy World This site has the best compilation of industry news across all areas of renewable energy.
  • IREC/ Interstate Renewable Energy Council: This site provides renewable energy educational information and model regulations.
  • NABCEP/ North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners: This is the independent organization that tests and certifies PV system installers. Individuals are Certified, companies are not. gro has two individuals Certified by NABCEP, assuring you a high level of design and installation quality.
  • NESEA/ Northeast Sustainable Energy Association: This association is focused on the entire northeast US, and serves both consumers and industry in the northeast with renewable energy and clean building information, events, and conferences.
  • NHSEA/ New Hampshire Sustainable Energy Association
  • NYSEIA/ New York Solar Energy Industries Association: groSolar's Paul Coughlin is a board member of NYSEIA.
