A groSolar installation on Burlington, Vermont’s City Market is featured on the US Department of Energy’s Energy Empowers website. Read the article, “Milk, eggs and solar: grocery co-op puts photovoltaics to work.”
We have started the the installation of a 31 kW solar electric system at City Market in Burlington, VT. City Market, Burlington’s only community-owned grocery store. The 136 solar panels, will cover a small percentage of the 16,000 square-foot building’s overall power load, but City Market was attracted to the project as much for financial reasons as for its commitment to sustainable business practices.
Here is a time lapse video from day one of the installation showing the solar modules being loaded onto the roof with a crane. Check out the sun moving across the sky!
You can track additional videos of the installation progress on City Market’s You Tube Channel.
groSolar will also be offering free monthly “Solar Made Simple” seminars at City Market on February 23, March 23 and April 22, to help educate local residents and business owners about the new economics of solar power.
