Case Study: Princeton Properties |
Princeton Properties, owners and developers of apartments and condominiums throughout the Northeast and Georgia, considered solar energy after seeing other companies in the industry adding solar to their properties. They looked at the economics and feasibility of solar electricity for their needs and contacted groSolar. Princeton Properties has installed solar electricity on four of their properties across New England for a total of 844 kilowatts. Some initial challenges included selling the nervous ownership entities on why solar energy is a good investment. However, strong state rebates that focused on the performance of the solar systems along with federal and state tax credits provided a return on investment of less than three years at all four locations. Princeton Properties also took advantage of group net metering which allowed them to utilize the credit for the extra power that was being created at one of their locations to offset the electric usage at their main office location. Princeton Properties is considering adding solar electricity to even more locations not only for the economic benefits but for the added value of marketing and energy offsets.
