groSolar Offers California Homeowners New "Join the Green Grid" Incentives |
Innovative Program Makes Solar More Affordable Than Ever BERKELEY, Calif. (May 26, 2009) - groSolar, a national leader in solar energy installation and distribution, announced today a new solar incentive program for California homeowners. For a limited time, groSolar is offering qualified customers three months of free solar electricity when they install a new system with groSolar. groSolar’s new financing program allows homeowners to lease solar electricity rather than purchase solar systems outright, avoiding startup costs and making residential solar more affordable than ever. While solar leasing programs have been readily available for commercial use, homeowners have had to bear the high installation costs themselves, a significant investment that can take years to recoup. Now, for as little as $1,000 down, groSolar will design, install and maintain a complete residential system, allowing the homeowner to lease solar electricity at low, fixed-rate monthly payments. The first three payments are covered in full by groSolar. The program begins immediately and incorporates existing state and federal tax incentives directly into a streamlined application process, so consumers do not have to apply separately for public rebates for solar installation. "It's never been easier for homeowners to join the green grid and gain energy independence in California,’’ said groSolar CEO Jeff Wolfe. “With our program, people no longer have to choose between investing in clean energy and doing other renovations in their homes; now they can do both,” he said. “This is a huge win for both homeowners and the environment.” The new program comes at a time when the Vermont-based groSolar has experienced tremendous growth nationwide. Last February, groSolar acquired the California-based residential solar installer, Borrego Solar. That acquisition brought the company’s residential installation presence to 10 states across the country, making it the fourth-largest installer of residential solar systems in North America. "Solar power is finally becoming accessible to everyone, and groSolar is committed to installing solar on as many roofs as possible,” said Wolfe. “People are always surprised to find how simple a solar install really is. Getting new windows in your house, for example, is far more disruptive and complicated than installing solar – and the savings continue indefinitely." groSolar’s new incentive program is part of the company’s “Join The Green Grid” campaign in California, to encourage homeowners to make the switch to renewable energy.
