groSolar Expands Office and Warehouse Space in Massachusetts

Federal stimulus helps solar provider with rapid growth

North Billerica, Mass. (April 16, 2009)– Looking for a success story in a tough recession?

groSolar, a national leader in solar energy installation and distribution, will celebrate the opening of its new Massachusetts office and warehouse space with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 11 in North Billerica.

Despite a dismal economic climate, solar energy providers are basking in the light that the Obama administration has cast on their industry, and Vermont-based groSolar is no exception. The President's stimulus package includes bold incentives for clean energy investment, and groSolar is wasting no time in taking advantage of a market tipping in its favor. The North Billerica warehouse is the groSolar’s second Massachusetts location and one of several recent expansions across the United States, as the rapidly growing company readies itself to respond to the national urge to 'go solar'.

The North Billerica location features 3200 square feet of storage and office space. groSolar CEO Jeff Wolfe will speak at the ceremony.

"We're proud to bring more jobs to the Massachusetts economy", Wolfe said. "Our new North Billerica office will strengthen our capacity to meet the demand for solar solutions in the northeast, fueled by Governor Patrick’s strong leadership".

Wolfe left groSolar's Vermont headquarters shortly after the federal stimulus package was signed in Februrary, in order to manage the company's recent acquisition of California's Borrego Solar’s residential division. That acquisition brought groSolar's presence to 10 states across the country, making the company the fourth-largest installer of residential solar systems in North America. Wolfe is looking forward to returning to the Northeast to celebrate the company's continued growth close to home.

The May 11 event will also include a special "Solar Made Simple" presentation to demystify the workings of solar power. Led by groSolar Massachusetts sales representative Allison McFeely, the informal discussion includes a dynamic presentation on the simplicity of solar and ends with an interactive Q&A session.

Wolfe co-founded groSolar with his wife, Dori, both mechanical engineers, in the kitchen of his Vermont home in 1998. "At groSolar, we know we are lucky to work in an industry where our mission matters", he says. "Every time we install a new system, we not only empower a customer with energy independence - we also launch a sustainable system that has tremendous value to the planet, and the economy.”

That's cause for a celebration, and groSolar’s staff hopes the local community will join them at their new office/warehouse at 17B Sterling Road in North Billerica at 10 a.m. on May 11, 2009. The event is open to the public, and food and refreshments will be served.
